Limb Sensitivity Enhancement for Diabetic Patients…
S-Enhancer is an exploration of new ways in which we can use technology to augment natural human senses and capabilities that have been lost due to aging or disease, it is a smart wearable designed to artificially enhance limb sensitivity in diabetic patients. The wearable is equipped with internet connectivity and with pressure sensors placed on the most vulnerable contact areas of the foot. The data obtained by the sensors can be visualized and analyzed in real time by an algorithm that looks for irregular patterns of pressure (patterns created when patients are constantly placing high levels of pressure on any given region while resting, standing or walking). If the wearable detects irregular pressure patterns, it will notify the user on their smartphone so that they can correct their foot’s placement and pressure distribution.
